The Pan African Bioethics Initiative was represented by Hailemichael Getachew (Ph.D) at the 37th Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) Annual Conference held in Addis Ababa. Dr. Hailemichael served as one of three panellists in a session convened under the sub-theme “Ethical and Human Dimensions of Using AI and Technologies.”

The panel critically examined the ethical considerations associated with the use of artificial intelligence in public health, with particular focus on data privacy, equity, accountability, and the protection of human dignity. The discussion highlighted the imperative that emerging technologies be developed and implemented in ways that are ethically sound, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of society.
